About this dojo

Strong karate is built on strong foundations. Kyokushin students spend a great deal of time on kihon, the basic stances, punches, blocks and kicks, and they keep returning to them at every level, because the basics are what everything else rests on. Repetition may sound dull, but done well it is deeply satisfying, and you can feel your technique sharpen.

That patient approach shapes character as well as skill. Students learn to concentrate, to accept correction without taking offence, and to keep working when progress feels slow. These are the qualities that make people reliable at school, at work and at home.

Kata and sparring grow naturally out of that groundwork, and every student moves forward at a sensible pace. The aim is not to rush anyone to a belt but to produce karate-ka who understand what they are doing and why.
